Alliance for Climate Education
Alliance for Climate Information
Campaign strategy, trainings, and research. The Alliance for Climate Education is one of those phenomenal front-line organization whose work touches millions of people. In this case, young people. Dedicated to inspiring and galvanizing young people around the US, ACE wanted to create a campaign to support young people in having conversations with the people in their lives, namely the adults. Their parents. I developed for ACE a prototype of “Climate Psych Labs,” delivered across the United States, focusing on the key skills and psychology of having conversations about climate change. Based on the success of this partnership, I worked with ACE and a group of researchers from Stanford, conducting a research project focusing on the impact and efficacy of teaching young people to have conversations. Drawing on motivational interviewing and psychosocial methods, we created tools and trainings, which were given to dozens of students across the United States.
The result led to the video below used in the study, and the report The Power of Conversation: Training Youth to Lead Climate Conversations with Parents, supported by Skoll Global Threats Fund.
The energy and expertise Renee brings to our programs is invaluable. Her innovative training approach supports our staff and students to be creative and effective in the ways we take action on climate change. There’s no question our work has been strengthened by her contributions. We feel so fortunate to have her as a collaborator.
